How does Zolax 0.5mg Tablet work?

Zolax 0.5mg Tablet binds to certain receptors in your brain and nervous system and it enhances the activity of a chemical substance called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which helps to produce a calming effect in your brain.

Side Effects of Zolax 0.5mg Tablet

Common side effects, typically observed at the beginning of therapy and usually subsiding with continued use, include drowsiness and light-headedness. Other possible side effects include depression, headache, confusion, dry mouth, and constipation.

Zolax 0.5mg Tablet reduces the symptoms of excessive anxiety and worry. It can also reduce feelings of restlessness, tiredness, difficulty concentrating, and feeling irritable. It will therefore help you go about your daily activities more easily and be more productive.

Pharmacology

Alprazolam, a triazole analog of the 1,4-benzodiazepine class, serves as an anxiolytic with hypnotic and anticonvulsant properties. It is believed to exert its effects by interacting with the Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA)-benzodiazepine receptor complex. Similar to other benzodiazepines, its CNS depressant activity varies with the dose, ranging from mild impairment of task performance to inducing hypnosis.

Dosage & Administration of Zolax 0.5mg Tablet

• Initial treatment typically starts with 0.25 to 0.5 mg three times daily.
• The dose may be increased at 3 to 4-day intervals in increments of no more than 1 mg/day, with a maximum of 4 mg/day.
• Some patients with panic disorder may require up to 10 mg daily; in such cases, regular reassessment and potential dosage adjustments are necessary.
• Dosages should be tailored to achieve the desired effect with the lowest possible dose. If side effects occur at the starting dose, it may be reduced.
• Discontinuation of therapy should be gradual, reducing the dose by no more than 0.5 mg every three days.
• For elderly patients or those with advanced liver disease, the usual starting dose is 0.25 mg two or three times daily, with gradual increases if needed and tolerated.
• Patients on multiple regimens of 0.25/0.5 mg Alprazolam may switch to a 1 mg dose once daily, preferably in the morning. Tablets should be taken whole, not chewed, crushed, or broken.
• The safety and effectiveness of Zolax in individuals under 18 years of age have not been established.

Symptoms of Zolax overdose include somnolence, confusion, impaired coordination, diminished reflexes, and coma. Overdose management includes general supportive measures and immediate gastric lavage.

Interaction

The CNS-depressant effect of Zolax may be enhanced by other psychotropic drugs, anticonvulsants, antihistamines, alcohol, and oral contraceptives.
